The company was founded in Johannesburg in 2000 by Mr Albertus Screuder and his wife Mrs. Vera Schreuder. The main focus of the original company was the provision of hiring services on earthmoving equipment for the mining business of the region. Since Mr Schreuder had had a vast experience in the manufacture of building products such as concrete blocks, concrete bricks, throughout South Africa, he saw the need for a company offering cost effective products which whilst complying with the technical requirements of the building industry could also offer sources of work for the people in the western side of Johannesburg.

The founding members started the Beams and Block activities in 2002 with very little capital and have managed to grow the business to what it is now. Forty six employees and a fleet of six trucks and associated manufacturing and loading equipment. At the end of August 2009, the business was sold as an on-going concern to CF CCS, which has taken control of its operations and is seeking to increase its position in the building market.

Concrete beams are manufactured using state of art methodologies and adhering to SANS 1879:2004. The manufacture of concrete blocks has not been specified as yet although the Concrete Manufacturers Association (CMA) is currently working to normalise its specifications. B & V Mining and Slabs is currently seeking to be admitted to the Master Building Association (MBA), NHBRC and CMA

The company has currently two semi-automatic machines for the manufacture of concrete blocks and has recently purchased a high throughput mechanised unit. In addition, the company has installed 1800 lineal meters of beams moulds in its premises.

The client base includes civil engineers, architects, building companies, property developers and the public in general. Its products are distributed throughout Gauteng and as far as Mafikeng, Durban and other destinations.
